> About LUSENGA Trust  


Lusenga National Park is situated in Kawambwa District in the Luapula Province of Zambia     (Lat 09° 15˝ South and long 28° 55˝12 East). This Park was established in 1972.

This Park was abundant in Wildlife species such as Elephants, Sable and Roan Antelope, Bush Bucks, Reedbucks, Harte Beast, Puku, Impala, Warthog, Bush Pig, Buffalo, Blue Monkey, Cachuma Baboon, Vernert  Monkey, Porcupine, Leopard, Lion, Hippo, common Duiker,etc

Also abundant are various birdlife species numbering over 310.

In view of the rich history of this unique wildlife habitat, the community with the help of Chita Lodge, resolved to form a trust to oversee the re-establishment of the wildlife stock that used to roam this beautiful landscape. The Lusenga Trust thus formed.

The objectives of the Trust are:-

·        To promote the conservation of wildlife.

·        To oversee of restocking program for animals depleted or extinct in the park.

·        To facilitate the formation of community Resource boards and Game Management Areas.

·        To mobilize Resources to support the community scouts to oversee the security of the Park.

Chita Lodge as a strategic partner has provided seed money and established a fire room lodge in Kawambwa District at a cost of K160,000,000 (Kwacha One Hundred Sixty Million) which  hosts the offices for the Trust. The proceeds from this lodge are directed to pay for the sustenance of the Community Resource Board to oversee the security of the park.
